Lesson Study studiereis naar Japan

Als u Lesson Study wilt meemaken in het land van haar oorsprong kunt u deelnemen aan een Lesson Study programma in Tokio. Sinds een aantal jaar organiseert Project Impuls een programma waarin u wordt ondergedompeld in de Japanse Lesson Study cultuur. U bezoekt onderzoekslessen op scholen en maakt alle aspecten van Lesson Study van dichtbij mee. Het is een intensief maar leerzaam programma. Since 2012, Project IMPULS and Lesson Study Alliance collaboratively organized the “Lesson Study Immersion Program” with various support organizations including the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology of Japan(MEXT), Mills College School-wide Lesson Study Project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

During the past eight years, the Lesson Study Immersion Program has invited a total of 271  educators and researchers from 11 different countries, including U.S., U.K., Netherlands, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Ireland, Portugal, Canada, Qatar, and Switzerland to experience authentic Lesson Study in Japan. From evaluation reports prepared by external professionals, it is clear that this 10-days intensive program made significant impacts mainly on participants’ disposition about their professional learning as well as the Japanese pedagogical approach for mathematics, teaching through problem solving. Some evidence already had shown that these impacts gradually had helped for establishing a stable system and professional community within a school and district level in various countries.  The past participants have been reporting that the learning and experience of the immersion program help them increase teachers’ desire to learn about mathematics contents and how to encourage students’ learning much better through the process of Lesson Study.
